Features
I have been tasked with coming up with a series of primary sources and reports, and putting it all together in a presentation to present to a large class. I even interviewed several classmates and examined how to speak and listen in an engaging manner that benefits both the speaker and audience.
Communication
Problem Solving
During my trip to Japan, we were to stay with host families for two nights. They were fluent in Japanese with very little English. To communicate with our hosts, we had to figure out a way to overcome this obstacle. We researched what to do and what not to do in Japanese households to maintain respect, and bought books to learn the essential words and phrases in Japanese. We ended up having great conversations with them, and learned many things about their ways of life.
Collaboration
I was assigned a group of my fellow classmates to collaborate and create a sports photography presentation using everyday people that we see playing a sport. We all went out to parks and fields to document action shots. We looked at all of the pictures we each got, and wielded out the best to create the project.
culture
During my trip to Costa Rica, we traveled along the San Juan River by boat. We came across the country of Nicaragua and crossed the river to the new land. We organized an event to give out food to children living in poverty, and gave them a chance to play and be active for the day. I was able to learn more about the various types of Spanish culture.
Competencies
I have learned how to document moments and correspondences more effectively in the past year. I have also strengthened my ability to speak in public as I began to study and practice. I am starting to learn more about the business aspect to communication and media, such as statistical data and creating more digital presentations.
